Taytay Elementary School

Danao City
Fifth Place: Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan 2014 elementary division

The arrival of Sr. Sto. Niño in the shores of Cebu several centuries back will take center stage in Taytay Elementary School’s free interpretation presentation this year.

Christian Ayees Mata, principal, said the Danao City Schools Division recommended that Taytay Elementary School join the Sinulog Grand Parade after it won Danao’s Karansa Festival last year.

Taytay has 80 dancers and 150 students assisting in the props, and all of them are first-timers in the Sinulog street dancing competition.

Taytay Elementary School is funded by the local government of Danao City and DepEd Danao City Schools Division, with each contributing P250,000 and P30,000, respectively, for expenses associated with the contingent’s participation.

The Sinulog Foundation, Inc. has also given Taytay a subsidy of P75,000 for joining the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan where it landed fifth place.

Mata said the contingent is choreographed by Kenneth Malvin Yango.
