Second Place: Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan elementary division
Talamban Elementary School's entry this year in the Sinulog sa Kabataan-Lalawigan revolved around the out-of-the-ordinary "itik" concept, portrayed by around 100 dancers and 300 props handlers.
Itik or ducks were seen rescued by the Holy Child from the "buwaya" or the crocodile. From there on, the ducks started praising Señor Sto. Niño.
Eric Mattheus Archival, Talamban Elementary School cultural coordinator, said they chose to represent animals this year like ducks and crocodiles to give a different taste of how the Sinulog can be portrayed.
He said most of the contingents make use of nature, humans, and natural disasters to portray the goodness of the Holy Child, but Talamban sees a presentation of colors in using animals like ducks.
The school, Archival said, poured in close to P1 million for their presentation.
Talamban last joined the Sinulog festival two years ago.
