Third Place: Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan 2014 secondary division

Finishing third in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan in the secondary division this year, Sabang National High School of Danao City is determined to improve its ranking as it showcases a free interpretation number in this year’s Sinulog Grand Parade showdown.

Choreographer Benson Enriquez said they are making the most of this week to do all the polishing needed for their final presentation that centers on the power of Sr. Sto Niño and the sound of drums to cast away evil spirits.

Naay mga (There is) merrymaking and praising partly in honor of the Holy Child,” said Enriquez, who revealed he has made slight changes in the steps to accommodate the much larger props they will unveil in the final showdown.

Enriquez has been choreographing a Sinulog contingent for four years now.

Sabang NHS principal Melinda Casona said the local government of Danao City contributed P250,000 to defray the contingent's expenses in the Sinulog sa Kabataan, while DepEd Danao City shouldered P30,000.

The Barangay of Sabang has also put in P100,000 to defray other expenses while the Sinulog Foundation, Inc. provided subsidy amounting to P75,000.

Casona said the contingent is composed of 260 high school students, 100 of whom are dancers and another 160 bringing the props.
