Third Place: Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan 2014 elementary division
A dance of thanks as well as an appeal for help: this is the message that the Ginatilan Elementary School wishes to convey in its performance.
Tying its presentation with the Hinatdan Festival, the Ginatilan contingent's dance is in thanksgiving to the Señor Sto. Niño for helping the town prosper. Hinatdan is the old name for Ginatilan and it is a word that has a lot of historical and cultural value for the town.
At the same time, said school head Liza Orongan, Ginatilan performers seek help and guidance from the Señor over the election crisis currently faced by the town. Three sitting officials including the proclaimed mayor face election cases filed by rival candidates.
The contingent, according to Orongan, has 64 dancers and almost twice as many students taking care of the props which consist mainly of huge flowers and fans. Ginatilan will compete in the free interpretation category during the Sinulog Grand Parade.
Student dancers are from third to sixth grades. She explained that they picked those students who really wanted to join and whose parents are supportive of their decision.
