Third Place: Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan secondary division

If there is a message the contingent from Cebu City’s Don Sergio Osmeña Memorial National High School wishes to impart to the spectators, it is that the solid foundation of any marriage stems from the depth of the couple’s religiosity.

Choreographer Angelo Manapsal said they will depict a couple’s golden wedding anniversary in the school's Sinulog-based performance on Sunday.

“In the lives of a husband and wife, there will come a time that their relationship will be tested. With strong faith in Sr. Sto. Niño, they are bound to withstand all these problems in their lives,” Manapsal said.

Manapsal, a seasoned dance instructor, said strong family ties are fundamental to making good citizens, and in effect, contribute to nation building.

The contingent already won third place in last Saturday’s Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan.

The troupe is made up of 80 dancers and 110 props handlers, all bona fide high school students of Don Sergio Osmeña MNHS.

The contingent’s sponsors include St. Cecilia’s College and the Go family, among others, although it has also received P75,000 in subsidy for participating in the Sinulog sa Kabataan. It is waiting for a separate subsidy promised by the Sinulog Foundation for its reappearance in this Sunday’s Grand Parade.
